Cookbook GIVEAWAY for national frozen food day

  • 0
  • March 3, 2013

GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared March 6th as National Frozen Food Day.  President Reagan called upon the “American people to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

Never celebrated this momentus occasion before?  Me neither!

I’m a sucker for celebrating holidays though.

To help you celebrate this national holiday in a healthy way, I’m giving away FIVE copies of my cookbook, ‘15-Minute Freezer Recipes.’

15-Minute Freezer Recipes Cookbook Giveaway

I started freezing meals when my daughter Cameran was a baby and I wanted to save time and stress around the holidays.

Before my second daughter Isla was born, I prepped and froze two week’s worth of dinners. It was amazing to have homemade meals on-hand while I was recovering and bonding with the newest member of my family.

Since then, I’ve mastered an easier method of freezing meals: Simply chop your meats and vegetables, add the sauces and spices, and freeze. Since you’re not doing any cooking ahead of time, each recipe can be prepped in 15 minutes or less!  (Hence the title of my cookbook, ‘15-Minute Freezer Recipes.’)

All of my recipes cook in your oven or slow cooker when you’re hungry.  Since they’re cooking for the first time, they don’t taste like typical “frozen foods” or “leftovers.”

Inside the Cookbook

  • My 10 favorite freezer recipes – including recipes for breakfast, dinner, and dessert
  • My best freezer meal tips – including prep, storage, and cooking
  • A grocery list for all 10 recipes
  • Cute labels for your freezer meals
  • Nutritional information for every recipe
  • A review from Registered Dietitian Dana White

15-Minute Freezer Recipes Cookbook Giveaway

My recipes are so easy that anyone can make them.  No fancy kitchen tools, exotic ingredients, or previous cooking experience required.  Just check out some of the easy recipes I’ve posted on this blog before: Slow Cooker Turkey Black Bean Chili and Slow Cooker Sweet & Spicy BBQ Chicken.

My daughter Isla is 19 months old now and I still make freezer meals for busy nights when I don’t have the time or energy to cook. There simply isn’t anything faster than dumping a freezer meal into your slow cooker in the morning.  Plus I love coming home at the end of a busy day to a house that smells like a homemade meal has been simmering in my slow cooker all day.

Im always looking for new things to cook for dinner. I shop once a week and plan according. However, with baby number two due in the next few weeks I'm starting to get my freezer ready. I'm a SAHM but its so nice to have freezer meals and meals that my husband will not complain about eating! Your recipes look great Kelly!

  • Kristi Carrico says:

I'm a first time mom and my hubby travels 3-4 days a week, so I'd love to find quick and easy meals to make for us when he is home to spend more time with him and our little girl and to help me take care of her on my "single mom" nights instead of spending time cooking or not eating well.

  • Ashleigh says:

I've gotten away from meal planning since my second was born last April, but I'm itching to get back into it since I'm overwhelmed with always trying to figure out what to make for dinner!

I already plan my meals for 2 weeks to a month at a time, but what I lack is the ability to pre prepare meals for those days that are hectic, and most of my meals are fairly involved (I love to cook!) another issue I have run into is that my kids hate all of our favorite recipes :(

  • Stephanie azarcon says:

I just had a baby a week ago so i have been throwing things in the freezer right and left, but they are typical things like stuffed shells and leftover turkey from a dinner. It would be great to have some actual freezer recipes. I really want the chicken chili recipe! I also love to bake so a freezer recipe forfor cookies to pull out on a rainy or snowy day would be awesome to pull out and make with my daughter!

  • Barb Krimbel says:

I don't plan meals in advance because I can never think of anything quick and easy. Def need to check your cookbook out to get some ideas and make life as a single mama with an infant easier.

  • Just found you through Brittany's blog and am so glad to have connected with you! We have a lot in common.. I'm a social worker (MSW) and also started a business in health coaching, and am a runner (just got certified to coach running as well). Plus, I'm from PA! But currently living in Tx. Anyway, as for meal prep- I plan out meals each week around what we have and try to stick to one grocery store run/week to save time. Would love to win this!

  • Tiff says:

I love the idea of freezer meals. I'm a huge planner as it is, and I always stick to my grocery list. Freezer meals would help simplify my process.

  • Cheree says:

My mom was a meal planner, so it only made sense that I would continue with what I knew — weekly meal planning and shopping — once I was on my own. I have been married for a little over 10 years, and every Monday, I sit down and plan the meals for the week. Including 2 crockpot or easy meals for the evenings I work out while my husband watches our baby. Our weekly meal plan goes on a huge chalkboard in my kitchen. I have had the chalkboard for about 4 years and it keeps me on track. I am more likely to cook at home if I make out my meal plan and post it where the whole family can see. I am always trying new recipes, so your cookbook would be a great addition to my search for easy meals!

  • Kelly says:

Love all that we have in common, Laura! I'm a runner too!

  • Kelly says:

Cheree, I loved reading about what works for you. Thanks for sharing! It's funny that you mention having a blackboard in your kitchen – I have a blackboard "menu board" in my kitchen too!

  • Kelly says:

I hear ya, Alyssa. Dessert is a must in our house!

  • Kelly says:

Thanks, Kim! Sometimes I make a big batch of the Mac n cheese (a full pound of macaroni – 4x what is in the recipe), let it cool, and freeze it. It tastes delicious baked after being frozen!

  • Kelly says:

Stephanie- you can have the chicken chili recipe now! It's posted under my "cookbook" tab above :) And, I have to say, the freezer cookies are awesome!

  • Kelly says:

Janette, it's not that hard once you get the hang of it. I've been planning/shopping for 2 weeks at a time for about 2 months now. I'm working on a blog post to share what I've learned!

  • Sarah C says:

We have a very active 20 month old son – so the easier the meals, the better! I love the idea of your cookbook!

  • Julie S. says:

I've never made a slow cooker meal, but you're getting me excited about trying to make one soon!

  • monica c. says:

I cook breakfast/pack lunch/ cook dinner, so I am in the kitchen a lot! Would love to try out your freezer meals. I've made a few freeze-ahead meals in the past, and could definitely benefit from your tips, i'm sure! Way to go Kel. :)

  • Heather says:

I need to utilize my crockpot more, and these yummy recipes have me excited to get cooking!

  • Kristin says:

I enjoy cooking in the summer– using my fresh veggies that I grow (check out my blog @ zucchiniexplosionproject.blogspot.com). However…. I work + have a long commute during the rest of the year so my husband does the cooking, which he usually enjoys…until he doesn't. ;) I eally want to win so I could set these up, know that the recipes are healthy, tried & true and give him a break! Thanks!

  • Jana Kachmarek says:

    I'm a horrible cook – maybe this would help…

  • Katie says:

I love my crockpot, but don't use it nearly as much as I would like to. My husband typically doesn't get home in time to eat with the kids and I so I would LOVE to have a resource to use to make better meals and have some left over for him. I'll admit that I rarely cook myself a meal during the week–most of the time its a sandwich or salad.

  • Michele says:

Would like to try this out and do more meal planning.

  • Jennifer says:

I love the recipes you have been sharing! They have transformed me and made me feel more "motherly". I've never been one to cook but the recipes you've shared are easy and they put a huge smile on everyone! I'm bringing more to the table these days…literally!
